4. “Where I’m Going”- Sir Sly
5. “I am the Lion King”- PAPA (St. Lucia Remix)
These songs give me chills, which makes them perfect for summer nights.
I don’t know about your city, but Toronto has been stuck in a sweaty, sticky, muggy mood lately. When I get home from work, all I can do it change into something hardly there, lie on my bed and let my fan cool me down. I’ll press play to my “cool down” playlist and drift off. By this, I don’t mean fall asleep, but drift off in the sense that it’ll just calm me down and allow me to think and breathe again. I have been compiling a few of these songs throughout the start of the summer until now, and I feel like these songs all fit the same beautiful mellow mood. If you just need to chill, relax or even reflect on the day (without falling asleep), give these songs a try:
5. “Miasma Sky”-BATHS
This is so great that now I’m not sure what’s better: Hipster Disney Princesses or this.
Pretty amazing concept from Leo Caillard, with retouching from Alexis Persani. These guys make classic art relevant again. Not sure what it is about hipster culture that is so easy to make fun of… I take that back. I know exactly why it’s funny. It’s one of those cultures where stereotypes are so true and so prominent in society that we all find the relatable humor in that truth. Everyone either knows someone who is a hipster, or they are a hipster themselves (even if they want to deny it).

Anytime I play a song from this guy around people, I always get asked “Who is this?!” I usually reply and say “TEED” (because in my mind it’s pretty straight forward) but for some reason I always get blank stares. I then proceed to explain that TEED stands for Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs… and that’s where people get really confused followed by a “WHAT?!”
Yeah, sure he has a slightly confusing name and he’s not that well known but that definitely doesn’t mean that the music isn’t amazing. I’ve liked “Household Goods” and “Sickly Child” for quite a while now, but I’m just stumbling onto his newer-ish stuff. TEED hails from the UK and has been releasing stuff since 2009. His best known song to date is “Garden” which has over twice and many video views as all of their other songs combined.
